What a Difference a Little Dirt Makes

Rafael Vandervaart
Post-apocalyptic warrior Rafael van der Vaart of Real Madrid saves the world in nothing but a pair of football shorts.

These images were produced as part of a media campaign promoting the Dutch National Team ahead of last summer’s Euro tournament.

Most of them are pretty goofy but van der Vaart looks pretty good, in a Road Warrior sort of way. My favorite, though, without a doubt, are the ones of Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United keeper). Typically, he is not what I would call hot, at all, but smudge a little dirt on his face, maybe a little blood, add a steely glare, and well… he sort of is a bit. Hot that is. I especially like the slightly ripped armband. Like his muscles were just too big for it.

Dont mess with van der Sar
van der Sar, not entirely not-hot.

Even John Heitinga is made slightly yummy with the addition of some rubble and torn shorts. Oh, the rock-hard abs dont hurt either.

John Heitinga in tatters
Atlético Madrid defender John Heitinga frees himself from a pesky goal net. He better watch out or those tattered shorts will fall right off.
