The Anti-HAB
By: Wanda Touchim | May 1st, 2009Ok, so you know the idea that you can’t really know what it is to be happy unless you know what it is to be sad? If it helps, I think that it was probably the moral of a Star Trek episode… Or maybe I am thinking of the Brady Bunch… Well, whatever 70s sitcom the idea featured in, it immediately sprung to mind when I saw the picture below. Surely, this picture is the exact antithesis of all that a HAB is (whatever that may be):

Carles, Carles, Carles, I dont even know where to begin with you.
Carles Puyol may be a perfectly capable defender for Barcelona – arguably the best team in the world right now – but, well… He is so not a HAB. Especially in this shirt and this pose. Oh god, and the HAIR. In fact, I think this may be the single dorkiest picture I have ever seen of a famous football player from a top-flight club. Especially as it was taken earlier this week. I mean, everyone looked a little dorky in the 70s or early 80s (even I was subjected to the dreaded poodle-hair in 1982), but this picture was taken three days ago. Yikes. I submit it here only so that we may all better understand what a HAB is by knowing what it it not. Whatever else Carles Puyol is, he is not a HAB.
Now that we have that settled, how about a little pretty pretty to wash all that Puyol out of our eyes? Well, they dont come much prettier than Fernando Torres – even when he was going through his butch phase:

See, we can all appreciate Torres a little more now that we know Puyol.

Those Barca training tops are absolutely tragic — I hope whoever designed them has moved on to a new field.

I find this post weird considering that Carles has been the object of a HABS post before but with a very different tone.
