Dani Alves: Proudly Unwaxed
By: Lotte Cox | May 7th, 2009Despite earning a card during the match that will rule him out of the Champions League final in Rome, Dani Alves was still fired up enough about Barca going through last night to strip with enthusiasm, showing off his stubbly torso — either he’s just sworn off waxing, or he hasn’t had time to hit the salon recently.
Quick question, though — does he have his own name tattooed across his chest?

(Click this one to examine the chest tat in nearly life-sized glory.)

I assumed it was his son’s name. If he has a son that is..

I don’t think it’s his name. The tattoo reads “Daniel F”, but Alves’ full name is Daniel Alves da Silva. I’m assuming that since Alves’ name is Portuguese his wife’s surname begins with an “F” and this tattoo is for his son. I say that because Portuguese names are composed of two given names, the first surname coming from the mother and the second surname coming from the father.

Thanks for the info, guys, I’m sure I’m not the only one here who had no clue about the Portuguese name situation. (Are we sure he’s got a son?)
