Appreciating Juan Pablo Angel

By: Lotte Cox | March 18th, 2009

There are countless reasons to appreciate RBNY striker Juan Pablo Angel. The man’s got ability that’s made him a legend at every club that’s ever been lucky enough to have him, and has managed to be adored by fans in four different leagues. Plus, he’s articulate and smart — one of those rare footballers who’s as classy and professional as he is talented, so much so that even his teammates get a bit moony about him from time to time.

Oh, and there’s also — as MSG takes pains to remind us in this interview — his perfectly toned, glistening torso. Man, even when we try not to be shallow, they go and drag us back down. Damn you, MSG!

(I’d spend more time being indignant, it’s just that I need to go watch those first 17 seconds again. And again.)

All footballers shall be interviewed shirtless! This way even if they don’t have anything interesting to say we can enjoy the view.

Absolutely! Preferably in a Greek statue pose, like the almost-awkward one JPA adopts for the camera.

Not just shirtless. Shirtless and glistening with sweat.
